Birthday Boy
Danger Level 1The Birthday Boy is a Level 1 monster that spends the whole run quietly turning the map into a minefield of balloons, and only becomes dangerous when one of them pops.

Behaviour
It wanders the level and periodically stops to inflate one to four balloons at a time, placing up to about thirty-one in total. It is completely docile otherwise and will stare at you without acting. Pop any of its balloons, however, and it instantly knows where and when it happened, no matter the distance, and sprints to that spot. If it finds a semibot near the pop, it enrages and swings for 10 damage a hit, crawling under furniture to reach you. Its balloons persist even after it despawns — popping one then respawns it on the spot.
How to survive it
Balloon discipline is the whole fight. Route your cart around them, and be aware that any monster, any thrown valuable, or any careless swing can pop one on your behalf. If it does enrage, break distance or stun it; it gives up once enough time passes or you get far enough away. Killing it removes every balloon on the map at once, which is often worth the trouble on a long floor. If you knock it into a pit without stunning it, it will float back out on a balloon for about twenty seconds before giving up.
REPODLE hints
Detection is the discriminator: Line of Sight and Proximity with no Touch is a rare combination, and among Level 1 monsters it is unique to the Birthday Boy. Add Light weight, a Small orb, 150 health and a strength breakpoint of 4, and note that it shares its 10 damage with several others — so lead with detection, not damage.
