Shadow Child
Danger Level 1The Shadow Child is a Level 1 monster that punishes exactly one behaviour: looking at it. Ignore it and it is harmless; stare and it takes 50 health in a single yank.

Behaviour
It teleports around the map at random, giggling each time. Spotting a semibot does nothing on its own. What matters is your camera — if you look at it, six arms begin growing from its back, slowly, and the longer you stare the further they grow and the more it giggles. Look away and the arms retract. Let them reach full size and it shrieks, forces your view onto its face, grabs you, and yanks you in with a cheerful "Yoink!" for 50 damage, disappearing before you can retaliate. It takes only 10 physics damage instead of the usual 25.
How to survive it
Do not look at it — and note that it reacts to being looked at even when it is facing away from you. You can watch it safely from the very edge of your screen. Killing it is awkward because it usually vanishes when attacked and resists physics damage, so most of the time the correct play is to ignore it entirely. If you want it gone right now, tumble-launching into it or hitting it with a Boltzap stuns it, and a stunned Shadow Child despawns as soon as it recovers.
REPODLE hints
Eye Contact is a detection type belonging to the Shadow Child and nothing else. One guess on any monster with an unusual detection profile will show it. Its 50 damage on a Level 1 monster is also a striking mismatch — no other Level 1 enemy comes close.
