Duck Bucket

The Duck Bucket is a wooden bucket with a crossed-out duck painted on it, sold in the attic above the Service Station roof. It has no special ability whatsoever, which is exactly why it is interesting.

Effect

Deploys rubber ducks as enemy distractions

What it does

Nothing, mechanically. It is a bucket. Its intended purpose — and the reason for the painting — is to be dropped over an Apex Predator, which slows the duck heavily, blinds it to players and stops you from accidentally clicking it and triggering a rage. It does the same job on Elsa, cutting off its demand for attention.

How to use it

The improvised uses are the good ones. Crouch inside it and you enter hiding mode, giving you a portable hiding spot in a room that has none. Trap a small monster underneath and shove the whole bucket into lava or a fireplace — environmental damage does not count as player damage, so the monster cooks without ever enraging. Wedge it in a doorway and any Level 3 monster that wants through will loudly announce itself by attacking the obstruction. Since equipment cannot be destroyed, you can also hold it up to block a Huntsman shot or a Clown laser. And if you die carrying it, your head usually ends up trapped inside, which makes recovery far easier.

REPODLE hints

Distraction is an effect type belonging to the Duck Bucket alone — one of only three single-member effect groups, alongside the Indestructible Drone (Protection) and the Defibro (Revive). If the effect column comes back green on a guess with an unusual effect, check those three first. Everything else about it is generic: Utility, Active, $5,000, 0 damage.
