Tranquilizer dart, stuns enemies temporarily
What it does
Eight shots, no damage, and an eighteen-second stun on any monster it hits. The v0.1.2.55 pass raised the ammunition to eight, enlarged the hitbox and extended the stun from sixteen seconds to eighteen. It also stuns semibots, but only for two or three seconds. Three monsters take a little chip damage from the dart itself: 5 to the Apex Predator and Elsa, 10 to a Gnome.
How to use it
Eighteen seconds is enough to kill anything in the game except, on early levels, a Trudge — and even there, one more dart after some cart-bashing physics damage closes it out. It is equally good as an escape: dart the thing chasing you and forget about it. That fire-and-forget mode is at its best during the final sprint, when there is nowhere left to bank orbs, killing has no payoff, and monsters have no respawn timer — a stunned monster stays out of your way, while a killed one can reappear in front of you. Ammunition is limited and non-rechargeable, so spend it on the big monsters.
REPODLE hints
It is the only Ranged Weapon in the game with 0 damage. Among the seven Stun-effect tools it is one of only two that deal no damage at all, the other being the Stun Grenade, and those two split on category (Weapon against Explosive) and max amount (1 against 3).
